The New Delirious Haters
Elliot Way punched the ground under him and electrocuted his
cousins. He chuckled as he watched them all shake with electricity. He punched
his power gauntlets together, laughing. “Give me a challenge,” He laughed. Lucas
kicked him in the back of the head with a spiked purple energy boot. He stomped
Elliot’s face into the ground.
Elliot Way: Son of Alexander and Tyrice Way. Older brother of
Jubilee Way. Abilities: The ability to have ever ability. Age: 16. Burgundy
hair.
“Please little boy. Now be my good little puppy, and give up,”
Lucas proclaimed with a smirk. He took being eldest a little too far sometimes.
Elliot mumbled something as he punched the ground, trying to get up. Lucas
forced him down harder.
“Lucas, that’s enough. Simulation over,” Patrick said. Lucas glared up at
his father and sighed. He took his foot off of Elliot’s head. The boy lifted his
face out of the ground and spat out a few pebbles. He flipped onto his back and
kicked his cousin in the crotch, causing him to fall on his knees in agony. He
grunted and reached out for his younger cousin, but Elliot scurried away.
Lucas Randall: Son of Patrick and Lux Randall. Abilities: Energy
Manipulation, Mental Projection, Pheromone manipulation, Intangibility, and
Biological Manipulation. Age: 16. Naples Yellow hair.
“Come
here you little twerp! How would you like it if Griffon stomped your balls!”
Lucas hissed as he crawled towards the chuckling Elliot. He punched his
gauntlets into the ground, electrocuting Lucas in the crotch. He screamed in
pain. “Gah! I’m gonna kill you, you little wimp!”
“Elliot! Your uncle Patrick said simulation over, that means powers off!”
Alex snarled. Elliot sighed and rolled his eyes as he got to his feet, along
with Lucas. The older of the boys kicked Elliot in the groin and then ran away
laughing, his injured cousin close behind.
Patrick and Alexander sighed. “Why can’t they get along like we
did?” Alex asked. Patrick shrugged.
“Hey daddy!” A young girl asked. Alex perked up and looked into
the ring to see his most gorgeous daughter Jubilee. She smiled up at her father.
“Did I do better this time?” She asked.
“You were perfect baby,” Alex said with a proud smile. Jubilee
grinned up at him.
Jubilee Way: Daughter of Alexander and Tyrice Way. Younger
sister of Elliot Way. Abilities: The ability to have every ability.
Age: 15. Pink hair.
Lucas’ eye wandered to a platinum colored hair girl. He smiled and
elbowed Braxton. His cousin raised his eyebrows at the beauty of the girl, but
before he could whistle, Lucas had slid away and across from the girl. “Hey,
what’s your power?” He asked.
The girl looked up annoyed. “I have the ability to make you go away with
two words,” She said.
“Oh really? Try me,” Lucas said with a devious smirk.
" Screw you,”The girl hissed. Lucas laughed.
“It didn’t work. Maybe your ability is going away,” He teased.
“Or maybe your immune to my abilities. Which means were related, all the
more reason why we shouldn’t get at it,” The girl proclaimed.
“I was just thinking about asking you out to dinner, but if you wanted to
do something more…” Lucas began.
“What’s your power?” The girl interrupted.
“I have a few…See my dad was a Delirious Hater,” Lucas began.
“Is that supposed to make me more attracted to you?” the girl asked.
Lucas shrugged. “It usually works,” Lucas chuckled.
“Anyways, your powers,” The girl proclaimed.
“I have energy manipulation, which means I can shoot
energy blast, create objects with energy, absorb energy and change it to another
form of energy, create fields of protection, and turn kinetic energy into
strength. I also have mental projection so I can turn my emotions into a
giant griffon. Intangibility, so I can phase through anything I want. Biological
Manipulation, so I can alter your genetics, physically distort or augment you,
heal, give you a disease, and control other biological functions. And pheromone
manipulation so I make you more attracted to me then you already are,” Lucas
said with a large flirtatious grin. The girl rolled her eyes. “So…back to your
powers.”
“Telekinesis, so I can levitate things as I need,” The girl
proclaimed as Lucas realized that the soda in his glass was floating. He tried
to scoop it back into his cup without much success, causing the girl to smile.
She dropped it back into his glass. “Ecological empathy, which means I can talk
to the earth. It says that you litter.”
Lucas coughed embarrassed. “Reactive adaptation, so I can become
invulnerable to anything that’s already hurt or killed me once,” She added.
“How many times have you died?” Lucas
asked.
“Six times. My dad was trying to make me as immortal as
possible, but my mom threatened him with a divorce, so he stopped,” The girl
said with a sick smirk. Lucas looked slightly confused.
“I can also warp reality, but I’m not allowed to do that because its not
ethical. I have telepathy, so I know what you’re thinking.”
Lucas blushed.
“I would have never guessed you would want to take my stockings
off so…sensually,” She whispered. “Oh and now your kissing my leg. You’re a very
romantic guy…”
“Forget warping reality. That’s not ethical. Get out of my
head,” Lucas ordered.
The girl shrugged. “And I have superhuman reflexes so I’m…extra
flexible….” The girl said. Lucas was getting red in the face, trying not to
think too hard about it now that he knew she was telepathic. He focused his mind
on puppies. “I’m Layne Hamilton by the way. It means narrow road on a flat top
hill.”
“Lucas Randall. It means light shield wolf,” Lucas said.
“Who’s that?” Elliot asked, looking across the room at the
dark-skinned girl with her braids in a ponytail, but four hung loose on the
sides of her face. Her hair was glorious for a Nomalian. She had the first
multicolored hair Elliot had ever seen, blue hair that slowly turned to orange
as the strands went down. He could just vision his fingers tangled in those
braids, loosening them until her long hair cascaded down her shoulder’s.
“I’m Ashlyn Sherwood, Mr. Way, and I would greatly appreciate it
if you would stop thinking about me like that,” The girl said. She turned
towards Elliot with emerald green eyes like a cat. She tapped her temple with a
grin, seeing Elliot’s face of shock. “Telepath.”
“Well what a pleasant way for us to meet Miss Sherwood! May I
say you look gorgeous in that lab coat,” Elliot said as he took the girl’s
smooth dark hand in his light ones. He kissed the back of her hand as she
smiled. “I’m very interested in what other abilities you have? You must be a
full blood, since you’re in advanced classes.”
Lucas harrumphed in the distance.
“I’m a mentality based Nomalian. I’m Omni-linguistic,
Precognitive, and Super Intelligent. I also have mind control, and Nensha.”
“Oh, A Omni-linguist?” Elliot asked. “Say something in Tamil.”
Ashlyn
chuckled slightly and then said, “Nī eṉakku oru vāyppu illai...”
She said. Elliot raised his eyebrows with a slight smirk.
“Amē ēvī chē kē lagabhaga jōśō,” Elliot said. This caused Ashlyn to beam.
“Gujarati? That’s interesting. You’re a
Omni-linuguist too?” The girl asked. Elliot opened his mouth, but she just
smiled. “No, no. Much more than that. You’re Dean Alexander’s son, you’re the
one with all the abilities.”
“I believe there’s a rule against telepath’s
doing that,” Elliot said.
“Sizin ego
zərər əgər cənab Way
üzr istəyirik,”
Ashlyn said. Elliot’s eyes narrowed in frustration, he had never had such a hard
time wooing a girl.
“Mīruponduṭaku hārḍ sādhana prēma..
Hu?”
He asked.
“Only when I want to,” Ashlyn said.
“Aw, English…the most difficult language. It’s East Germanic I
believe,” Elliot said purposely, being wrong.
Ashlyn snorted in a way that made Elliot even that much more attracted to
her. “East Germanic is pretty much extinct, but it is a Indo-European language.
A language of Romance,” Ashlyn said. Elliot ran his hand against Ashlyn’s cheek,
his eyes lidded and a smirk on his face. He stared down at Ashlyn’s large lips.
Oh god he wanted them so bad.
He leaned Ashlyn against the wall, their lips centimeters apart. “It’s
known for its use of tongue…” Ashlyn said. Elliot licked his teeth.
“Maybe you can teach it too me sometime,” He whispered.
“Maybe…”Ashlyn said. She entwined her fingers in Elliot’s hair and
touched her nose to his. “But, you’d have to take me on a date first.”
Elliot looked taken aback. He was known for his lack of commitment, but
that usually kept the girls wanting more. No girl had ever tried to get a date.
They would kill to just get his hands on him, to get their lips on his lips, but
this girl. Ashlyn smiled and pushed him away. “I thought so,” She said.
“Ashlyn wait…I…” Elliot began, but Ashlyn turned away. He didn’t now what
to say, he knew that wasn’t how he acted. Lying to her, and promising her a date
was more heartless than his usual act. He was slightly angry at himself, this
would be his first turn down.
“I do,” Ares said, imagining Ceres in a wedding gown. She wore a
headband made out of flowers that she probably made. She smiled at him brightly.
“What?!” Ceres asked. Ares snapped out of his daydream and
looked at the confused girl in front of him.
“Uh…I meant to say, I did…your homework…for you,” Ares chuckled,
trying to save himself from embarrassment. He handed Ceres her
homework
“Oh…thanks,” Ceres said with a smile.
“Yeah…I knew you’d forget…” He said, still chuckling nervously.
“Ares! I wanna know your powers!” Ceres proclaimed, causing the
youngest Randall-Stark boy to jitter. “You never take part in any of our
training classes, so tell me what your powers
are!”
The boy stared up at her with his icy blue eyes and a raised
eyebrow. “I told you, I just have my parents’ powers,” Ares mumbled as he ran
his gloved hands through his blue hair.
“No one your age just has their parents’ powers. Please I won’t
tell anyone!” Ceres begged. Ares sighed.
“Promise?” Ares asked.
“Promise! Promise! Promise!” Ceres proclaimed as she clasped her
hands and jumped up and down excitedly. Ares sighed again as he shrugged off his
suit coat. Wings burst from his back like an angel as Ceres jaw dropped in awe.
“You’re an angel?” She asked.
Ares chuckled. “No. I just have wings. That’s just one of them
though. I don’t know the second one, but my Uncle Alex said its already there.”
“Why don’t you show them. All the other students with wings show
theirs,” Ceres proclaimed.
“Cause these are angel wings, no one has these. If anyone wanted
them, they could easily take them. There probably worth millions if you sell
them, besides my dad gets all skittish when he sees them,” Ares explained. Ceres
ran her fingers on the silky feathers mesmerized.
“If I had these I would show them off…they’re so beautiful,” She
exhaled. Ares picked up his coat and pulled it back over his wings.
“That’s exactly why I cover them.”
“Does it hurt to sleep on your back?”
“I sleep on my stomach.”
“They’re huge! How do you cover them with just your suit coat?”
“I don’t, Adonis does, but I can’t tell you how. It’s his little
secret.”
Elliot walked into the dorm room to see Lucas doing one hand push ups off
his bed. Sweat dropped off the boys face, and he took no notice of Elliot. He
raised an eyebrow, but ignored his cousin. The aura of griffon began to rise
from Lucas taking shape of the stoic lion bird. “Do you ever get tired of
practicing?”Elliot asked. “I mean, you technically get six hours of practice
just being at school.”
“Shut up. Not all of us can be blessed with all of the powers in the
world you asshole,”Lucas hissed. Elliot glared at Lucas, but then shrugged it
off.
“What are you trying to do anyways?” Elliot asked.
“I punched a guy during lunch and his jaw didn’t break like I was hoping,
so I decided I needed more upper arm strength,” Lucas answered.
Elliot shrugged and got some milk from the mini-fridge. “Only you,” He
mumbled as he poured himself some milk. “You taking Layne to that…dance
thing…later?”
“Why do you care?” Lucas asked, snarling.
“Gosh! I was just asking!” Elliot said defensively. “Want some milk?”
“Yeah,”Lucas said. “Pass me the carton.”
Elliot handed the carton to Lucas. The boy used his free arm to drink the
milk as Elliot cringed at the lack of cleanliness. Some extra milk dripped down
Lucas’lips and chin, until there was none left in the bottle. He threw it at
Elliot’s face and then went back to his push ups. The eldest Way boy snarled,
but the decided it wasn’t worth it.
“Who let a half blood in here,” A boy snorted as Lucas took a
seat in the back of the class. He wore a grimace, the thought of detention the
only thing keeping him from cursing this boy out. Taking the seat at the back of
the class did nothing for him though, because the boy turned around in his seat.
“Just five powers and not good enough,” He teased.
Lucas only eyed him, a little annoyed. This boy didn’t know what
he was capable of. Most full bloods only had two of their own powers, he had
three that he had full control of. “What was your dad thinking when he married
such a powerless w**** like your mother?” The boy asked. Lucas gritted his teeth
in anger. Braxton, Elliot and Ares noticed the sudden change in attitude with
Lucas. His now clenched fist, furrowed eyebrows, he was seeping with anger.
“You’re father is such a sellout, to think a Delirious Hater couldn’t even find
himself a Nomalinian wife. And to make things worse they had the balls to create
a little b****** such as yourself.”
Before Braxton, Elliot, and Ares could even get up and stop him
Lucas had tackled the boy to the floor, punching him with energy steel gloves.
The boy’s face quickly became bruised and bleeding. “Lucas stop!” Ares yelled as
he grabbed his cousin’s shoulder, but Lucas threw him off.
His aura seeped off of him with anger as he continued to punch
at the boy. He even accidentally summoned Griffon, who pecked the boys head.
“Lucas stop! That’s enough!” Elliot yelled.
“I’m gonna distort everything about you! I’m gonna rearrange
your biological make up until you’re a snail. I’m gonna give you the worst
disease I can think of!” Lucas snarled. “Don’t ever, talk about my parents like
that ever again or I will kill you!”
“Lucas Robert Randall!” Patrick yelled as he pulled his son off
the boy. Lucas still panted in anger, his eyes glowing with a vicious maroon.
Patrick guided him out of the room by his neck, as the teenage boy calmed down.
He passed Layne in the hallway, who gave him a confused look. He just looked at
her sadly as his father pushed him down the hall.
When Layne walked into the classroom, instead of bustling and
excited it was an eerie silent. The boy Lucas had just beaten up, Jonathan, was
being consoled by all the girls in the class, as Elliot, Ares, and Braxton
glared at him like he was the spawn of evil. She took a seat next to Braxton.
“What happened?” She asked.
“That asshole over there was talking trash about Lucas’parents,
so he snapped and went berserk on the dude. Freaking punched his teeth out,
would have down more if his dad hadn’t showed,” Braxton proclaimed.
“You missed it Layne! It was wicked!” Ares laughed. Layne
smiled.
“Is he going to get in trouble?” Layne asked.
“Of course, he almost killed the guy! He was gonna change his
biological make up until he was a snail, and then he was going to distort him
and give him the worst disease he could think of!” Elliot exclaimed. “My dad’s
gonna flip out!”
“Well John was talking bad about Lucas’ parents, he should get
in trouble too,” Layne said.
“Well in the world of democracy, I must speak on Jonathan’s
part, Lucas doesn’t look like he just got mauled by bears does he?”Braxton
asked. Layne, Ares, and Elliot glared at him. “I’m just saying. School fights
and punishments are measured on how much the students get hurt. Since Lucas
almost killed Jonathan, I think he’s gonna get a lot more harsher punishment
than Jonathan who just hurt Lucas’ feelings.”
Layne glared at Jonathan, getting all the attention from the
girls in the class, seeing them swoon all over him made her sick. “Layne you
need to get control of your little Pitbull boyfriend. He almost murdered John,”
Some little blond girl that Layne wasted no brain cells by trying to remember
her name.
“John was insulting a teacher, and a student. His injuries will
heal, Lucas’ won’t,” Layne hissed as she eyed John. She smirk maniacally.“You
know what, I would actually like to see what you would look like as a snail.”
The blond girl punched towards Layne with a ice fist, but using
her superhuman reflexes Layne jumped out of the way. Her eyes turned silver as
she glared at the girl, causing her to choke. “Let’s not have a female
reenactment of earlier please. I’m not in the mood,” Layne snarled. The girl
took in a gasp of breath as Layne’s eyes went back to normal. “Oh and John,
she’s cheating on you with Sebastian.”
Patrick sat Lucas down in front of his Uncle Alexander. Alex
stared at him as Lucas looked away and tried to think about puppies instead of
what happened earlier, since he knew that his uncle had a tendency to read
memories when people came in. Alex leaned back in his leather chair and sighed.
“Lucas, I thought you promised you weren’t going to snap anymore,” Alex said.
Lucas didn’t reply.
“Lucas Robert Randall, answer me,” Alex ordered.
“He called me a half blood and a b******,” He mumbled. He turned
to his father. “And he called mom a powerless w****, and you a
sellout.”
Alex looked angered hearing this. Patrick looked flushed.
“Patrick, bring in Jonathan please,” Alex said. Patrick nodded. He leaned down
to Lucas’ ear.
“You’re not a bastard Lucas, and I promise he’s gonna pay for
calling you that,” Patrick snarled. Lucas couldn’t help but be a little proud of
his father. Patrick stood up and left the room.
“So when he insulted you, you got up and almost killed the kid,”
Alex said.
“I have anger issues, you know that Uncle Alex,” Lucas said.
“I’m well aware. That’s why we like to keep you and Braxton
together, to control your anger, but obviously he isn’t doing a good job,” Alex
said with a slight smile. He sighed. “I know you were just defending our family,
but I can’t show favoritism. I’m gonna have to take away all of your privileges,
and take your powers away for a month.”
“Uncle Alex! That’s not fair!” Lucas yelled, banging his hands
on the table.
“You almost killed the kid Lucas,” Alex said.
“How am I gonna take part in Phys. Ed. and all my classes when I
need them?” Lucas asked.
“You won’t be. You’ll be sitting in your father’s classroom,
grading papers, or doing chores,” Alex said.
“Uncle Alex!” Lucas yelled. “You can’t do this!”
“I have to Lucas,” Alex said.
“Well then you better do the same to that asshole!” Lucas
snarled.
“He didn’t try to kill you,” Alex said.
“You’re siding with him! You’re siding with him over your own
nephew!” Lucas shouted. Alex stood, his and Lucas’ hair whipping around from the
sudden gust that Alex created. Lightning struck behind Alexander. Something
forced Lucas back into his chair.
“Don’t pull that crap on me Lucas. I am Dean of this academy,
and I have to make sure I treat everyone as they should be treated, son,
daughter, niece, or nephew!” Alex yelled. Lucas nodded. “No powers, no
privileges…get over it.”
Lucas nodded. “Yes Uncle Alex.”
“Good boy,”Alex said as he sat back down in his large spiny leather
chair. He laughed childishly and spun in it. “I haven’t took my medication in
months, and I love it! Things are just so carefree! Don’t tell your father.”
Lucas raised an eyebrow. A free Alexander, was a bad Alexander. He was
definitely telling his father later.
Lucas watched as his younger cousin sat in the middle of the
dark hallway, his head in his knees. “I just realized…I’m so useless.”
“What are you, a retard?!” Lucas yelled, as he handed Layne to Braxton.
Elliot looked up confused. “Maybe Jubilee’s right when she said that I don’t
know everything about you that I should, but at least you came to realization
that your worthless right!?”
He grabbed Elliot’s arm and pulled him to his feet with an angered, yet
respectful face. He picked up Layne and then turned back towards Elliot. “There
see,” He began. He gave his cousin a kind smile. “You’ve already took one step
forward.”
“Now, after this, you can do whatever you want. Walk back into the
darkness, walk forward into the light, or choose a whole different path. It all
depends on what you want,” Lucas said as he, Braxton, and Ares walked off with
out him and up the stairs to the outside. Elliot smiled proudly.
“You’re such a softie Lucas,” Braxton said with a grin.
“Like hell I am!” Lucas hissed.
Ares watched in shock as Lucas sent out a blast energy towards Elliot,
knocking him against the wall. While he was looking at Elliot and Braxton
knocked out, Lucas grabbed his left wing and yanked it. Ares let out a yelp of
pain. He felt his energy getting pulled out, and then he felt a rip in his back,
like tearing off Velcro. “Lucas please!” He cried.
“Why aren’t you running Ares? That’ll be fun, you can try running, but
then I’ll rip your wings right off your back,” Lucas snickered. He pulled on
them harder and eerily chuckled, “rip…”
Braxton began to wake up and stared at Ares in his tight
situation. “Lucas!” Braxton yelled. “Let him go!”
Lucas glared at him and began giving off a pheromone that scared
Braxton. He unwillingly backed away, though he really wanted to help his cousin.
Lucas laughed and spun around, spinning Ares with him, causing the boy even more
pain. “Oh how I love my powers! Don’t you love yours Ares?” Lucas asked.
“Yes!” He yelled as he turned as much as he could and touched
his hand to Lucas’ face and sent out a psionic blast. This caused Lucas to yell
out in pain. He purposely phased through Ares’ hand causing the boy to freak out
and pull his hand away.
Lucas glared at him. “That wasn’t nice, now I’m ripping them
off!” He hissed. With a strong pull he ripped off Ares’ wings. The boy let out a
blood curdling scream, enough to wake up Elliot. The angel fell to his knees,
blood pouring from his back, as Lucas threw his wings to the ground and crushed
them under his foot.
“ARES!” Elliot yelled as he rushed to his cousin. Lucas hit
Elliot with another energy blast, stopping him for another moment as he tried to
retain his composure again. Lucas grabbed Ares’ neck and stared at him with a
questioning face.
“I know! Let’s make you a hemophiliac, I mean you’re already
bleeding, might as well right?” Lucas chuckled.
“Lucas no…please,” Ares gasped, but it was too late. Lucas’ eyes
glowed maroon, as the blood poured from the wounds even more.
“LUCAS! STOP!” Braxton yelled as he teleported closer to Lucas.
“STAY OUT OF THIS BRAXTON!” Lucas yelled as he glared at Braxton
and sent a blast of energy at him. “Griffon, handle him.”
Griffon attacked Braxton repeatedly and forced the boy to watch
as Lucas grabbed Ares and sighed as his cousin looked at him with teary eyes.
“Don’t look at me like that Ares, it makes me angry,” Lucas sighed.
Ares snarled at him. “I wish you’ll die.”
Lucas pouted. He felt Elliot’s presence and put up a force
field. Elliot pounded on it. “LUCAS! Leave Ares alone!”
Elliot created a energy hammer and smashed it against the field,
only cracking it a little. “LUCAS!” He shouted, smashing the hammer against it
again. Elliot continued to smash it as Lucas turned his hand intangible and put
it into Ares chest as he screamed out. “LUCAS! NO! STOP IT!”Elliot yelled.
He clenched his fist around Ares spine causing him to quiver
with wrongness. He pulled his hand back out as Ares fell to his side. Lucas
dropped the field with a smile, “Who’s weak now Ares?” He asked.
Elliot ran right pass Lucas to Ares. The Naples yellowed hair
boy stared down at his cousins with a grin. “Griffon, you can leave Braxton
alone, I feel better now,” He said. Griffon cawed and disappeared leaving a
bloody and battered Braxton.
“You asshole,” He hissed as he tried to get back up.
Elliot bent over Ares and tried to get his cousin to respond,
but all he could get from Ares was a slight gasp for breath. “Ares, stay with me
Ares,” Elliot said, his cousin’s blood dripping through his fingers.“Ares, stay
with me. I’m trying to heal you okay, just stay with me.”
He light his cousin up with burgundy light, “It’s useless
Elliot, its over,” Ares gasped. Elliot began to cry, still trying.
“No. No…I’m gonna save you! I’m gonna save you, and then your
wings are gonna grow back, and everything’s gonna go back to normal,”Elliot
cried. Ares smiled at Elliot, but then closed his eyes as his breaths stopped.
“No please Ares! Ares! Please! You can’t die in my arms like this!”
The boy didn’t respond. It was over, just like Ares said. Elliot
began to cry full force, tears rolling down his face like a river, dribbling
down his chin and dropping onto Ares’ still chest. Lucas began to laugh. “Oh…did
I kill him?” He asked.
“You jerkbag!’ Elliot yelled. He was off his feet and punching
Lucas before he could blink. Lucas’ face revealed blood as Elliot looked down at
his hand, and saw energy steel gloves. He punched Lucas again and again, until
his cousin’s whole face was a gory mess. “You killed your cousin! You killed him
just because you were mad about some girl!”
He hit Lucas upside the head with an energy mallet, knocking the
boy to the ground. He continued to kick and punch at Lucas. He grabbed Lucas’
face and used psionic blast on him, cause Lucas to writhe on the floor in agony.
“Is it still funny Lucas?!” He laughed hysterically. Lucas clawed at Elliot’s
hands but the boy took no notice. He electrocuted his cousin for while until,
Lucas’ hands dropped from his wrists. Elliot panted with adrenaline as he stood
up and backed away. Ares and Lucas laid dead in front of him. He had watched one
die, and had killed the other.
“Oh my god. I killed Lucas, I’m just as bad of a person as he
is!” Elliot yelled. Braxton teleported beside Elliot and patted him on the
shoulder. “I’m a murderer Braxton! I’m a murderer!”
“Elliot you did what anyone would have,” Braxton said, using his
empathy to calm his cousin down.
Elliot took in deep and uneasy breaths, but slowly calmed down. Elliot
put his face in his hands, and Braxton leaned against the wall, staring at the
mess that laid in front of him.
“Can’t you go back Braxton, and stop it all?” Elliot asked.
“I can go back and warn Ares, but…I wouldn’t be able to stop his
and Lucas’ death. That would be warping reality,” Braxton proclaimed. Elliot
leaned against the wall with Braxton. This made him think.
Braxton and Elliot watched in silence as they carried the
caskets with Ares and Lucas. In Ares’ casket was him dressed neatly in a black
pinstripe suit. He was laid on top of his wings, his feathers fixed neatly. In
Lucas’ casket was a neatly dressed Lucas, wearing a solid black suit. They even
cleaned up his face despite the blood that Elliot had punched out of him.
Elliot looked around the room at all the people who had showed
up for these two boys. Artemis Randall was holding Parson Randall’s hand with a
death grip as she watched, teary eyed as they carried her son down the aisle.
Eris had her face in her hands, peeking every now and then at her brother. Even
Adonis couldn’t look. Lux Randall was in Patrick Randall’s arms, her face buried
into his shirt unable to look at her dead son, her only child, gone. Ceres had
less class, she was full out bawling when she saw Ares. Elliot rubbed her arm
and brought her closer to him, as she cried into his arms.
“I never got to say I love him,” Ceres whimpered. Elliot patted
her back.
“You didn’t need to, he was gonna tell you,” Elliot whispered.
Ceres continued to cry.
One at a time, the students and teachers at Way Academy said
some words to the boys and dropped a flower into their casket. Ceres was very
touching, she grew a bouquet of flowers out of her one and placed it on top of
Ares hands and blew him a kiss. She did the same for Lucas, despite the fact he
had killed the love of her life. “You’re just misunderstood Lucas, I don’t blame
you at all. I blame your emotions for messing with the real you,”She said, and
then walked away. Now it was Elliot’s turn.
“So, were do I begin Ares? How do I sum you up?” Elliot asked.
“You were so…strong yet subtle. Flowers aren’t good enough for you, you’re
priceless. God of War, an Archangel. I’ll miss you.”
He walked over to Lucas and looked down at him. He couldn’t be
angry at him. He felt he should be angry at him, but instead of thinking of his
lasts moments like he did with Ares, he kept thinking about the moment when
Lucas pulled him to his feet and lifted his spirits when he was down. That was
his true last minutes. That person that he killed wasn’t Lucas, it was a wolf in
sheep’s clothing. “Lucas, I wish that you could die as yourself instead of some
monster of crazed emotion. The real you, wasn’t the person I killed, it was the
person who told me that I wasn’t worthless, that even though I stopped moving, I
could ask for help to help me take the next step. I’ll miss you too,”He said.
Braxton sighed when he saw Ares. “I wished I could have saved
you Ares, instead of being forced to watch,” He said. He then looked at Lucas.
“And I’m sorry that I wasn’t good enough at my job Lucas.”
He put Ares favorite vintage CD next to him, Chasing
Pavements. “I never really got why you liked this song so much…it’s so old,
but who am I to complain to about someone else’s choice of music,” Braxton
sighed. He put Lucas favorite vintage CD next to him too, Breaking the
Habit. “Same to you Lucas. I’ll miss you two.”
The rest of the family was just a sniveling or sentimental mess.
Artemis and Lux so much in tears you could barely understand them. Parson
Randall had slipped off his notorious gloves and put them beside Ares. Patrick
Randall had ripped off his gold chain necklace, and put his old goggles next to
son’s head. “You said you wanted them,” Patrick said with a sad smile as he
closed Lucas’ casket, and Parson closed Ares’.
Elliot loosened his tie as he snuck away from the luncheon. He
shoved his tie in his pocket and unbuttoned his first two buttons.“Where are you
going?” A girl asked. He turned, half expecting Ceres, instead he saw Ashlyn
Sherwood. She looked so pretty with her hair down, her gorgeous blue to orange
curls cascading down her shoulders. Her long black maxi dress blew in the wind
along with her and Elliot’s hair. She blinked at him with green eyes.
“I just…I had to go see Layne. She doesn’t know…” He stumbled.
The dark skinned girl nodded as she walked closer to the boy.
“Are you okay?” She asked.
“I’m fine,” Elliot replied.
“I meant mentally. Are you okay?” Ashlyn asked again. Elliot
couldn’t really answer that. He recently had his cousin die in his arms, and
killed the other. How mentally stable could he possibly be? Ashlyn sighed.
“Actually, you don’t have to answer. I already know. Being a telepath and all.”
“Yeah,” Elliot said. He wondered what Ashlyn got from his brain.
Maybe she got that he was mentally unstable at the moment, and he would probably
be the next Lucas.
“Elliot,” She said. Elliot snapped out of his thinking. The girl
lightly pecked him on the lips, surprising the boy. “I hope that helps a
little.”
“Kay…” He whispered.
“Please go easy on Layne…she’s sensitive you know,” She
proclaimed. She turned and left, taking no last glance at the boy. Elliot
stared at her as she left, very confused. She kissed him…was this actual love?
He had never felt so jittery after a kiss, and this was just a small one. He
shook it off and walked to the cells.
“Layne?” Elliot whispered. The girl sat in the corner of her
cell, looking somehow well for solitary confinement. She rushed to the bars when
she heard Elliot.
“Elliot!” She exclaimed. “Wait…where’s Lucas. Why are you here?
Where’s Lucas?”
“Layne…I…Lucas he…I…” Elliot stuttered, how was he supposed to
explain to this girl that he had killed her first and only love. Had killed him
with his own hands. Had his blood on his hands. Felt his last heartbeats. “He’s
dead Layne…so is Ares. They’re dead.”
Tears formed in Layne’s eyes. “When’s they’re funeral! Please
Elliot, tell your father that I have to go and see them one last––”Layne began.
“We just had the funeral…Layne. You missed it…” Elliot
interrupted. Layne’s jaw dropped as she back away from the bars in surprise.
“Why didn’t anyone tell me? Shouldn’t I have been told?”She
asked.
“You’re in solitary confinement, no one is supposed to see or
talk to you Layne,” Elliot explained.
“How did they die?” Layne asked. Elliot looked down.“Elliot!
Please…please tell me how they died. I need to at least know that!”
“Lucas…killed Ares, but he wasn’t really himself, so I can’t
really blame him,” Elliot said.
“And what killed Lucas?” Layne asked.
“I did Layne…I killed Lucas,” Elliot said. Layne stared wide
eyed at Elliot, backing up even further from him.
“…Elliot, this is all my fault,” Layne said.
“Layne it’s not––” Elliot started.
“NO! IT’S ALL MY FAULT! LUCAS WENT CRAZY BECAUSE OF ME! THEY
DIED, AND IT’S ALL MY FAULT!” Layne yelled as he eyes glowed platinum. Elliot
backed away in horror. How was she using her powers? They were supposed to be
neutralized by Alex Way. Even worse, Elliot didn’t even know which one she was
using.
“Layne! What are you doing?” He yelled. The girl didn’t answer
him. Elliot began to turn to dust as he screamed in shock. Reality around him
was warping out of shape. Could it be…was Layne changing reality for Lucas and
Ares? How though?
“Only visitor you’ll be getting will be me Ms. Hamilton, to
neutralize your powers again,” Alex had said.
Of course! Alex was supposed to come today to neutralize Layne’s
powers, but must have forgotten because of the funeral. Now her powers were back
and with a vengeance. “Elliot!” Alex yelled as he ran down the hall to see his
son across the hall from Layne Hamilton’s cell. He was too late. Everything was
sucked in by Layne’s powers.
“Elliot!” A voice yelled. “Stop daydreaming already, we gotta
get to homeroom!”
The eldest Way blinked his eyes a few times, and looked around.
He looked at himself in the mirror, and noticed that he was in mid button of his
vest. In the doorway was Braxton, waiting patiently. He chuckled at himself for
being so spaced out and finished buttoning his vest. He grabbed his suit jacket
and pulled it on. “Braxton is he ready yet?” The voice yelled.“We’re gonna be
late!”
“We’re coming, calm down,” Braxton said nonchalantly, as he
grabbed his shoe bag. Elliot did the same and looked in the doorway of his dorm
room. Ares and Lucas, dressed and ready for classes. Lucas looked angry as
usual, but Ares smiled at him. Elliot didn’t know why, but he felt like this
wasn’t right. A glimpse of a dead Lucas and Ares flashed through his head, but
he shook away the thought. He gave Ares a confused face. “Ares…you’re wings are
out?” He asked.
“What do you mean. I always wear my wings out…” Ares said.“Where
have you been? Some other reality?”
“Can we go to class! I’m not getting detention because you
guys!” Lucas growled.
“If your in such a rush Lucas, why didn’t you leave without us,”
Braxton asked.
“Cause…its lonely to walk down the hallways alone…” He mumbled,
so he was barely audible. “AND BECAUSE UNCLE ALEX TOLD US TO ALWAYS STAY
TOGETHER!”
“Let’s go then! Why are we still talking about it,” Ares laughed
as he walked out the room. Lucas ran after him, Elliot and Braxton behind them.
Elliot couldn’t help but be over gratified for all this. He smiled as Lucas and
Ares laughed with each other.
“Elliot?” Braxton said. Elliot turned to his cousin. “Are you
okay? You looked spaced out.”
“Nah…I’m fine. I’m just, a little overjoyed for some reason.
Like I lost something, and I got it back,” Elliot said.
“Yeah me too…weird right?” Braxton said as he looked at Lucas
and Ares again. “Maybe it was just a bad dream that I’m still thinking about or
something.”
“Yeah…” Elliot said. That was probably what that memory was, a
bad dream that he could only remember a little bit of.
Lunch seemed the same, loud and rambunctious, the students using
their powers for random reasons. Ashlyn grabbed onto his arm, laughing.“Hey
baby,” She said. Elliot smiled at her. “What’s for lunch?”
“Oh nothing, just some stuffed tortellini noodles and mushroom sauce,”
Elliot answered.
“Mm…sounds delicious. I’ll see you at the lunch table,” Ashlyn said as
she skipped to the lunch line. She turned and blew Elliot a kiss. He caught it
and held it to his lips. He remembered a little bit of Ashlyn pecking him on the
lips in a black maxi dress, and a weird feeling in his chest, but that wasn’t
their first kiss…so…what was with the memory?
He sat down at the lunch table, Ares and Ceres across from him. He
remembered Ceres crying and falling into his arms, “I never got the chance to
say I love him…”.This dream was just haunting him today. “Man, I got a warm
soda,” Ares complained. Ceres took his soda and blew on it, causing frost to
form.
“There you go sweetheart,” She said as she handed it back to Ares.
“Thank you very much Ceres,” Ares said with a grin. He kissed her cheek
as she giggled. Elliot smiled at the two.
“Hey scoot over shorty!” Lucas teased as he squeezed in beside Elliot and
Braxton. He noticed Ares and Ceres getting all lovey across him and grimaced.
“Get a room you two…please…”
“You’re one to talk Mr. Hamilton,” Ares chuckled.
“Shut up. Layne’s taking my last name when we get married,” Lucas
proclaimed. He got a glimpse of Layne coming over to the table. “Speaking of the
beautiful girl.”
Layne sat on Lucas’ lap as he kissed her cheek. She smiled. She began
nibbling at Lucas’French fries. “Why can’t you buy your own lunch. I gotta eat
too y’know,” Lucas proclaimed.
“I’m your lunch. Happy Birthday!” Layne proclaimed teasingly as she fed
Lucas a French fry.
“My birthday’s next month,” Lucas chuckled, chewing on a French
fry.
“Well then you got a early birthday present, and a French
fry.”
Ashlyn slid in next to Elliot. “Hi guys,” She said. She picked up her
soda, but realized it was warm. “Aw man my soda
is––”
Before she could finish, Ceres had took her soda and blew on it, making
it cold. “Thanks Ceres!” Ashlyn said with a grin.
“I had this weird dream last night. I dreamt that I went crazy, and then
I killed Ares, and then Elliot killed me,” Lucas said.
“Really? I had the same dream, except I was fighting you, but then you
killed me,” Ares said.
“Did I rip your wings off, give you hemophilia, and mess with your
spine?” Lucas asked. Ares nodded. “Oh that’s so creepy.”
“I had the same dream, but Lucas sent Griffon on me and then Elliot
killed Lucas because he killed Ares. He electrocuted and used psionic blast on
you,” Braxton said.
“I had the exact same dream too! And then we were at Ares and Lucas’
funerals! And Ceres was crying, then I went to go tell Layne because she was in
jail, and Ashlyn kissed me. Then when I told Layne she freaked out
and––”
“It was just a dream,” Layne interrupted. Everyone turned to her confused
as she calmly ate Lucas’ fries. “So we all had the same dream, big deal. It
happens all the time. Ashlyn, Elliot, or I must have accidentally made you guys
have the same dream as us.”
“Layne, have you ever changed reality?” Lucas asked. An evil smirk grew
on Layne’s face.
“I wouldn’t know would I?
If I changed reality then obviously I would have changed the moment when I
changed reality, it would be like I never used it. But then again, if I was the
one using it, maybe at the end of the day I would be the only one to remember,
but I would never tell you guys,” Layne said. Everyone stared at her confused.
She shrugged and continued to eat. “Besides, I don’t even know how to control
that power, so I would never use it.”
“Maybe it was just a coincidence,” Ashlyn said.
“Yeah,”Everyone mumbled. Layne smirked.

cousins. He chuckled as he watched them all shake with electricity. He punched
